Through the Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute, young people across the country have the opportunity of receiving the caliber of leadership training that is typically available only to Fortune 500 executives and government leaders. The Institute is a joint effort by the Prudential Insurance Company of America, the Center for Creative Leadership, and the Points of Light & Hands On Network and is being implemented in Alaska by a collaboration of youth organizations working in partnership with local civic, business, education, and community organizations.

Friends of Alaska PYLI and the Alaska PYLI Steering Committee are coordinating and promoting Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute Training in Alaska.

The Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute (PYLI) features approximately 50 hours of presentations, group discussions and hands-on leadership and community service activities that focus on the dynamic challenges confronting leaders of all ages. The Institute's service component is integrated throughout the program so young leaders will emerge from the training with the understanding that service to one's community is an integral part of leadership and citizenship. The Institute concludes with the implementation of a community service project planned and organized by the young people and involving Alaskan residents and businesses.

PYLI is a unique experience. It's a chance for young people to develop new skills, define challenges facing their communities, and develop real solutions.

In support on America's Promise: The Alliance for Youth and part of the national "Spirit of Community Initiative", PYLI seeks to encourage young people to "Catch the Spirit" of volunteer community service. Please help Alaskan young adults make a positive difference in our communities.

Applications are due ASAP and no later than 3 weeks before the Institute . For more information on the PYLI curriculum see www.PYLI.org or call Friends of Alaska PYLI at 561-6630 or email alaskayouthasresources@alaska.net
